| LOTR:
The Return of the King
While Tolkien fans around the world await the December 17th theatrical
release of the final chapter of The
Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Lord of the Rings TCG players
and collectors will get a sneak preview when the latest expansion
of the award-winning trading card game, The Return of the King,
releases worldwide on November 5th.
The first of three
expansions making up the "King block," The Return of
the King will introduce new game mechanics called "threats"
amd "initiative", a new site path, new versions of all
the Fellowship members, Arwen, and Elrond, and new characters
such as Denethor (already seen in a preview version). Cards will
support both the open tournament format (including Fellowship,
Tower, and King blocks) and the King block format.
As the base set of
the King block, The Return of the King will have a configuration
similar to that of The Fellowship
of the Ring and The Two Towers.
It will include two different playable 63-card starter decks,
featuring Aragorn and Éomer, and 11-card booster packs
with 1 rare and a mix of common and uncommon cards. A foil from
the complete parallel diffraction foil set will replace a common
card in approximately one in six booster packs. All starters and
boosters contain only cards from The Return of the King expansion. |
